Easy Global Payroll Setup

I used Oyster for Global Payroll and it was great! We needed to pay contractors in several countries, and the process was super smooth. Their system handled all the tricky tax stuff without any issues. I was a bit worried about setting it all up, but their onboarding team was really helpful. Saved us a ton of time and hassle. I will definitely use them again for future international hires and tell other founders about them!

Good for Contractor Management

Signed up for Contractor Management. Needed to track time for overseas contractors. The platform made it simple. Payments went out on time. No complaints.

Anyone tried to cancel their contractor management trial? Is it easy?

M Meena 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
I did. You have to go through their support. No self-serve button. Took a couple of emails but they did it.

Typical. Thanks for the heads up.

P Priya 1 month ago
Same here. A bit annoying but they got it done.

T Tarun 1 month ago
Mine auto-renewed! Make sure you cancel well before the trial ends. I missed the cutoff.

Oh crap, good warning. Thanks!

My platform fee waiver didn't show up on my first invoice. What gives?

K Kunal 2 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
Did you sign up through a specific promo or referral? Sometimes those take a billing cycle to process.
18
K Kunal 2 weeks ago
Could be. Check your terms or contact their billing team.

N Nisha 2 weeks ago
Yeah, it was a startup program discount. So maybe next month?

A Aditi 2 weeks ago
Mine was applied as a credit on the second invoice, not a direct waiver on the first. Might be how they do it.
2
N Nisha 2 weeks ago
Oh, that's interesting. I'll keep an eye out for that.
2
A Aditi 2 weeks ago
Yeah, it confused me too at first.

How long does Oyster onboarding actually take for a new hire? Their site says 'days'.

S Sonia 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
Depends on the country. For US/Canada, pretty fast, like 3-5 days. Europe was slower for us, maybe a week and a half.

D Deepak 1 month ago
Ah, okay. We're hiring in Germany.

A Amit 1 month ago
Yeah, Germany can be tricky with contracts and local laws. Expect a bit longer.

K Kavya 1 month ago
We had one take almost three weeks because of banking setup issues on the employee's end. Not Oyster's fault, but still a delay.

Good to know about potential hangups.

Can't log into my Oyster account. Password reset not sending email. Anyone else?

G Gaurav 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
Check your spam folder. Mine sometimes goes there.

K Kiran 1 month ago
Nope, nothing there. So frustrating.

Had this issue last week. I had to contact their support directly. They eventually fixed it after an hour or so.
2
D Divya 4 weeks ago
Yeah, their tech support can be a bit slow sometimes.

K Kiran 4 weeks ago
Ugh, seriously? That's not ideal for a 'global' platform.

Does Oyster HR actually provide health insurance for international hires? How good is it?

P Pooja 2 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
Yes, they do. It varies by country because of local regulations. In some places, it's pretty standard basic stuff. In others, it's quite comprehensive.
13
P Pooja 2 weeks ago
Nah, it's country-specific. They handle local compliance, so the benefits have to match local laws.

I Ishaan 2 weeks ago
So it's not like one global plan?
8
R Rahul 2 weeks ago
We had an employee in the UK who said it was decent, comparable to other local options. Nothing super fancy but totally fine.

Is the annual billing discount worth it? Worried about committing.

A Arjun 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
For us, it was. We've been using them for a year and a half, no complaints. Saved a good chunk of change.
5
N Neha 1 month ago
How many employees do you have with them?
4
A Arjun 1 month ago
Just two right now, but planning more.

S Smita 1 month ago
I'd only do it if you're 100% sure. We had a few hiccups with payroll processing early on, but they're better now.
6
N Neha 1 month ago
What kind of hiccups?
1
S Smita 1 month ago
Just delays, mostly. Nothing major. But still, made me wary of long commitments at first.

My 'first hire' discount code isn't working at checkout. Anyone else?

R Rohan 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
Mine worked fine last month. Are you sure you're a new customer and it's your first hire on the platform?

A Ananya 1 month ago
Yeah, brand new account. Super weird.

Maybe it expired? Some of those codes have limits.

V Vikram 1 month ago
I had to contact support for them to apply it manually. The field just didn't take the code.
10
V Vikram 1 month ago
Not really, took a day or so. But they fixed it.

Any experience with Oyster's IP protection for remote workers? Is it solid?

S Sneha 2 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
From what I understand, they integrate IP clauses into the localized employment contracts. So, it's legally binding in that country.
7
A Alok 2 weeks ago
That's what I assumed. Just wanted to hear from someone who used it.
5
V Varun 2 weeks ago
It's standard for EORs. They act as the local employer, so they handle that legal stuff.
3
M Mehul 2 weeks ago
We haven't had any IP issues, so I guess it works? It's more about the legal framework they provide, not a tech solution.

A Alok 2 weeks ago
Makes sense. Thanks.
